Webinar-series: Skills and talents for SME growth – the potential of workplace trainings

On three Fridays in March (12.03, 19.03 and 26.03 at 10.30-11.00CE T) the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform will organise a series of 30-minute webinars on workplace trainings and work placements. You are welcome to join all or just one of the sessions!
The sessions will illustrate the effectiveness of programmes where young people are positioned directly into SMEs to solve challenges relevant to the company while also getting valuable working experience. The mini-series focuses on the benefits that such practices have for SMEs and regions. Initiatives such as these are even more important in the light of COVID-19 as SMEs drastically require additional support mechanisms and young graduates need opportunities to start their careers. Furthermore, young workers can often bring the knowledge and skills needed to innovate, digitalise, and internationalise SMEs. The mini-webinars seek to inspire other regions to set up public-private or triple helix collaboration schemes for positioning students into companies. Agenda:
12.03 – “What is workplace training and why is it relevant for regions?”
– in this session new have a keynote speaker from the European Commission. Mr. Norbert Schöbel, team Leader for Policy in Action: VET and Adult learning Initiatives (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) will join us to give us an overview of the latest developments on the EU level regarding skills and young talent. We will also discuss the measures that are being considered post-COVID.
19.03 – “Workplace training: successful initiatives”
– in this session we will introduce impressive workplace training practices from the FEMINA and Inside Out EU projects. Both practices have been ongoing for nearly 20 years, last up to 18 months per student participant, and have yielded clear benefits for all parties involved, with high talent attraction and retention rates for the regions and SMEs.
26.03 – “How to bring skills to companies?”
– our last session will be a panel discussion that focuses on the design and implementation of such a workplace training programme and provides recommendations on how something similar could be set up in your region.
