2020 was a difficult year for both the Greek and the world economy. After many years of economic recession (2008-2016) the Greek economy faces the negative effects of the Covid-19 health crisis and the measures to prevent its spread. The implementation of two lockdowns, the suspension of operations in vital sectors of the economy (Tourism, Food Service, Retail, Entertainment, Transport, etc.), the reduction of consumer demand and the increase of unemployment created negative conditions at a national and local level. Their intensity will depend on the effectiveness of the vaccine against the virus and the corresponding state measures.
